RP AND GENERAL RULES
01. Arguing With Staff
If the staff have decided 'No' to something, do not turn it in to an argument. Yes you may explain yourself (via pm) however outright rage and anger or arguing the toss for an hour will not get you ANYWHERE. We're more likely to keep saying no and ultimately BAN you from the site if it continues.
We also ask that you respect your fellow members. Try not to start arguments, if you see something that needs to be addressed ALERT A STAFF MEMBER!
Staff also reserve the right to change things as and when they're needed.
02. Cursing
If you're going to curse or swear then we do not want it to be excessive.
03.Third Person
We ask that you use the third-person narrative. Third-person narration provides the greatest flexibility to the author and thus is the most commonly used narrative mode in literature. In the third-person narrative mode, each and every character is referred to by the narrator as "he", "she", "it", or "they", but never as "I" or "we" (first-person), or "you" (second-person). So please no second or first person narrative.
04. Site Rating
PG-13 — Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13. A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the Rating Board to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the motion picture by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the motion picture. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. A motion picture’s single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating, as must even one of those words used in a sexual context. The Rating Board nevertheless may rate such a motion picture PG-13 if, based on a special vote by a two-thirds majority, the Raters feel that most American parents would believe that a PG-13 rating is appropriate because of the context or manner in which the words are used or because the use of those words in the motion picture is inconspicuous.
05. Sexual Content
If there are threads where things get hot and heavy do a time skip, time skips are wonderful things. Kissing, hugging, groping is all fine so long as you don't go in to excessive detail. Sex is not fine, which is why we ask you to do a time skip. (Abide by the ToS)
06. Back Seat Modding
We have staff for a reason. Don't back seat mod or you'll find yourself with a warning. By Back seat modding I mean, posting in other peoples aps, or telling them what is acceptable and what isn't. You're not staff. You probably don't know, and if you give false information? You probably just made our jobs harder. Don't do it. Thank you.
07. Spamming/Post Length
No spamming. At least a paragraph people, we don't wanna look like a bunch of spamming noobs now do we?
Note:- A paragraph is usually 5-7 sentences, we will accept 4-7 sentences but please put a little effort in to it guys.
08. Double Posting
Double-posting, it's fine if you're roleplaying by yourself. Please though we ask for two paragraph posts if you're going to do this and you should make sure to wait 10 minutes or so before posting again. For anything else there is an edit/modify button, it's what it's there for.
09. Trolling
No flaming. No trolling 'Troll - In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community', baiting, etc, what have you. Arguments aren't needed. If you have a problem with a member, do not start a fight, bring it to a staff member it's what we're here for.
If it is off-site, we cannot help you, however.
In character trolling? Go for it if it's who your character is.
10. Advertising
Do it in the advertising section nowhere else, if it is anywhere else it will be deleted.
For the members. Please do not advertise openly on the cbox or randomly around the board please? That's why you have a homepage box in your profile. Just stick it in there or put it in the advertisements board.
11. Grammar and Spelling
Try to use it well. Yes I know people spell things wrong and what not but that's what we have a spell check for. So long as your posts don't look like a three year old has written them we're good.
12. Signature Images
No huge signatures please. if you're using an image then img src="your url" style="max-width:100%" inside [] should be enough.
13. Characters and Accounts
ONE CHARACTER PER AN ACCOUNT PEOPLE! =3 We have groups for characters so please just have one character per an account.
IF YOU ARE MAKING A CANON CHARACTER, NAME THE ACCOUNT AFTER THE CHARACTER PLEASE SO THAT TAGGING IS EASIER! It also saves us having people sign up with a canon account name when someone else has already made the canon. It's confusing and really isn't needed. We're a little more lenient with original characters so long as it's the same as your cbox name.
14. Style Tags
Please DO NOT use div style tags that stretch the forum boarder or images that stretch the forum boarder, if you do you will be warned, if this happens again you'll be warned a second time. On your third warning you will be told NOT to use style tags or images FULL STOP. If you proceed to then you will be banned for 24 hours. Any further slip ups and you'll be banned permanently.
15. Gary Stu/Mary Sue
Mary-Sue//Gary-Stu, in literary criticism and particularly in roleplay and/or fanfiction, these two are an original character with overly idealized and hackneyed mannerisms, lacking noteworthy flaws, and primarily functioning as a wish-fulfillment fantasy for the writer. They're the overly nice, fall over themselves, perfect man or woman that can do no wrong no matter how cruel something is to them. They're forever nice and generally have no depth to their personality. They also seem to hone in on canonical characters, HAVING to rp or be with them, have a connection. Click here for more definitions. No one likes them, sometimes they don't even realize they're a Sue or Stu. Please try and make the character you're making seem more real, everyone has something that sets them off apart from people hurting their friends or loved ones. ._.
16. Links to Canons
NO LINKS TO CANONS, If you're making an original character either ASK first or wait to be asked if your character can have a connection to them OR just DON'T DO IT! It isn't nice to find out when you're playing a canon that they apparently know an original character that they've NEVER heard of. Just have the consideration for them please? It's only right. You wouldn't want it to happen to you, so please don't do it to them.
• Do not insert your original character in to significant canon events when writing their history on the app. Thank you.
17. Playing Canons
Although this is a seperate story Arc from all of the Official Comics this is still a Canon Site. However we will allow people to create OC Characters should they wish. For more info on OC Characters Read Above
We do not want to see people coming here to try and play out their crack pairing fantasies i.e. Batman x Superman
We're not a shipping site though if there is reason for the ship then by all means go for it. That is of course.. Within reason.
Relationships with other Canons and or OCs are allowed so long as it remains within the canon characters personality. Try not to stray too far from their personality.
There are a few pairings that seem to be canon but have things blocking them Batman and Wonder Woman. These sorts of relationships would take a bit of work.
Please note (common sense) that both rpers should be consenting to a ship.
18. Limitations
• 1 Event per character at any one time.
• 1 Mission per character at any one time.
• You have 72 hours to post in your mission. If you take longer than 72 hours a.k.a three days you may/will be skipped depending on the GMs discretion. Repeat offences of you taking longer than a week to post in a mission that you have requested and are doing with other people, will result in you being unable to request to do any more team jobs. Until you bother to prove you can post in threads without making others in your job wait around for you.
• If you're holding up a team job and have been doing so constantly, you will not be allowed to take ANY more jobs at the current time, until you've finished the one you're currently in.
• Any one person may have a total of 6 missions at any one time.
• You may not have two of your own characters in the same job.
• No more than three characters played by the same person may enter an event.
• 2 Fight Threads per character at any one time.
• No more than one character played by the same person in any arena battle.
• You may only have 4 significant canons (Main characters - Characters that have altered the plot in some way, you know the name of and are recognizable.), and up to 5 Minor canons ( Minor Canons - Characters that either occasionally appear or appear often but don't have a major effect on plot. )
• Many of the characters especially canons may look young but be hundreds of years old. Remember the older your character the more history they will have. We would like about a paragraph ( 50 - 100 words ) for every 10-25 years they have been alive. We dont expect a novel for those characters that are hundreds of years old but a short half paragraph for someone who is 400 is not acceptable. If they have lived that long then they would have a decen history.
19. Concerning Powers and Abilities
• No instant kill skills.
• No revival skills.
• No instant healing abilities. Healing is more like a regen effect, it heals over time, not instantly (Unless out of battle).
• Abilities that cause status effects e.g. Poison or Paralysis, will work for a limited time dictated by admins. It also isnt guaranteed to work on another persons character. So just because your power causes people to be paralyzed DOES NOT mean that it will work all time on someone elses character.
• The above list may be added too as abilities crop up since we cannot anticipate absolutely every single type of power there is.
20. Killing
• You MUST have permission of the rper BEFORE YOU Kill their character.
21. PLAYER VS PLAYER FIGHTS
There are two ways to have a PVP Fight.
Moderated (A staff member refs the match, used for arenas etc)
Skill Battle (You use your rp skills rather than tracking set damage etc)
Moderated
• You'll be prompted to start your fight.
• Moderator may step in or cancel the match if the people playing are letting it become too personal.
• Moderators may leave a post every so often to keep the people in the fight posted on the things happening in their environment, including but not limited too, landslides, earth quakes, lava rising, water rising, traps being set off etc etc etc.
Skill Battle
• Moderator does not become involved till the end.
• Written more like a story than an actual fight.
• Up to the rpers who wins the fight, this may be used as personal plot device etc etc.
• If players cannot decide who wins a moderator will look at the thread and then decide for the players involved who wins.
• Used for unofficial fights and sparring.
I reserve the right to edit this PVP system, as it has not been tested as of yet.
23. Use Good English
I'm not quite sure how to put this but if you're not a native English speaker or don't understand English very well please do not bother to make an app here.
It's a language barrier and you most likely won't get very many threads, not only that but it will make it extremely difficult for staff to understand your application. We can understand a few mess ups in an app but it's a chore to read an app when there are whole paragraphs that make no sense, if it's a chore for us to read that, it's going to be a chore for people to read your posts. RPing is supposed to be fun, not a chore.
We like things to make sense and if you can't write something that makes sense to those who're reading it then I'm sorry to say we don't want you here as you most likely won't get any threads.
